Doom 3 Review

Ok, so after 2 days of "walking to the store" to get doom3, I got full 3 cds. Installed with no problems, updated ATI drivers, restarted comp, and started the game.

Menu: Menu looks nice and easy to use. I selected 1280x1024 and everything turned on at high. not max, because for max you need 512mb Graphic card and I only have 128.

Game: The first thing I did, is I took a screenshot:

http://www.newtutorials.com/doom.jpg

1. The graphics is just awesome, the environment looks REAL, people and monsters look nice too but not real, you can still see that its just a game. 11 out of 10 for GFX!!!

2. Gameplay: To tell you the truth, I am not into this kind of games, I only like to shoot people online, not some retarted monsters in a single player mode. But still, I had fun, and will probably finish this game just to see what is at the end.

DO NOT PLAY IN A DARK ROOM AT NIGHT because this game is scary, but after playing some time, you know what is going to happen, so it is not that scary anymore.

1 problem that I have with this game is that all of the ficking rooms look the same, like WTF I have no idea where to go, because it all looks the same. But, other people say that later in the game levels are different. I guess, 7 out of 10 for gameplay.

Summary: Anyone that into GFX and stuff, should play this game, just to see how awesome it looks. The future of gaming looks great.

p.s. It is nice to know that my comp [already 1 year old], still can play DOOM3 with no lag and at high settings

BTW everybody ATI sucks in doom 3 like hell! Even the latest ati radeon x800 gives less good results in some levels then geforce fx 5950! i dont talk about nvidia geforce fx 6800!

Peace out

ATI sucks in doom 3 like hell not really :)

btw, awesome game, I love it. GAME OF THE YEAR

Until Unrela 3 comes out :D

i never played doom3 and unreal3 but for some reason i have a feeling that doom3 is better. they've been working on this game for years and after seeing the making of the game i was left speechless.

Well unreal 3 isnt out, look in my previous post for screen, doom 3 is cool , i dont say it is bad. Also Unreal 3 wont be out this year or even next :D

errr, nox, you can go upto Ultra detail, which is what im playing at...just that it wont be compressed...that needs a 512MB card (ultra+compressed textures and pipeline resolutions)

what im playing at is Ultra @ 1152

where you at in the game? I think I am at Delta labs 2 or something, but I am kinda bored, so will finish later.

i got bored after like...4 hours beyond alpha labs, the place wih the big plasma gun, and i uninstalled it after trying out DM with my clan (we didnt like it)...waaaaaay too smooth , its like ur fighting in jell-o which sucked.
so we went back to UT2k4 and owned ourselves instagib style over DM Idioma

As for my personal review on Doom3
Gameplay:.
no doubt its a killer game, but thats just it, i dont like that kinda game...remember when u first hear those marines dying and fighting over the radio in the beginning of the game...i always wanted to meet up with those guys and do some tactical fighting but nooooo...this is not my kinda game, i like tactical stuff where u get to command a team to search and destroy, cover for you etc. (i.e. the obvious Rainbow Six series)
Imagine...what if Doom3 actually had you as part of a specops team, wouldnt that have OWNED?

Now for gfx:.
You know what im gonna say. ive experienced the game at its max @ 60fps and more and i have to say it was an awesome experience. between the 256/128 meg cards and the 512s, dont worry u wont notice much of a difference, just 'Overly' compressed textures which look amazing already without compression at maximum detail, so, no big deal, ive seen what i had to see.

Sound:.
pretty cool that the game has its own sound processing app running in the BG (i.e. no matter what soundcard you have, if its an onboard nforce sound or an audigy 2 Zs, the game will sound exactly the same everywhere).
It is a good thing in a way, for people who would like to experience audigy 2 quality (24bit 109dB) on any system, but i was disapointed to see that i wouldnt get any 'special treatment' for having an Audigy 2 Zs, which is what they promised way back in development stage.

Mplyr:.
crap. classic DM is just not my thing. too smooth, like ur pc is sailing in the Red Sea.Too dark, u have to always raise gamma up to see if ur heading into a wall or jumping off a ledge.
Bottom line: if i wanted a 'classic DM', i wouldve installed doom on my 486Dx66 and not wait 5 years for a halfas5ed 'classic DM recreation' to run worse than its predecessor

Overall:.
yeah. the game scares u shitless

in other words, its a 'benchmark' game, to see if ur gfx card has powah...thats it, one more thing ill add to my GFx part of the review:

One thing i kept noticing throughout the game and LOVING is the computer and switch use, all u do is have ur mouse hover on it and click, amazing!, and the animations inside the computers themselves, omg.

The one i noticed the most animation wise was the airlock computer at the begining of the game, which lets u walk outside for a second to transfer through parts of the base.

Good review Sith, but that still doesnt hide the fact i kicked yo a** at MineSweeper and Pool 8)
Who needs powerful graphics hehehe

u sucked ass, u were cheap too
