It's time to ask the age old question of who is the best stealth hero? Here's some info about the both of them.
WARNING! This is very long and may contain spoilers if you are going to play the games at any time.
SOLID SNAKE
Solid Snake is the main protagonist in the video game series, Metal Gear, he is known as the man who makes the impossible possible and a mystery and myth to much of the world at large. He is a highly trained, elite soldier with a personal preference for parachuting, S.C.U.B.A diving, free climbing, rappelling, small and medium range handguns, and various hand-to-hand combat techniques.
He is voiced by David Hayter in the North American and UK releases of the Metal Gear Solid series.
Codename: Solid Snake
Real name: David (full name not disclosed)
Alias: Iroquois Pliskin
Sex: Male
Age: 30s (his age was adjusted by Kojima between Metal Gear 2 and MG Solid)
Nationality: USA
Height: 182 cm
IQ: 180
Snake was a initially a Foxhound operative. Still a rookie, he is chosen to infiltrate the fortress Outer Heaven, rescue his fellow operative Gray Fox and other prisoners and destroy a new super weapon called Metal Gear. Unbeknownst to Snake, his superior who ordered him into Outer Heaven, Big Boss, was behind the uprising. Using all his training and abilities, Snake manages to destroy Metal Gear, and defeat Big Boss.
After the Outer Heaven incident, Solid Snake retired from Foxhound and spent some time as a CIA agent and mercenary for hire. Earning enough money, he went into semi-retirement in the Canadian wilderness. One day, Snakes former commander, Roy Cambell, recalled him for another operation in the Middle East. Snake's mission involved deposing the rising dictator of Zanzibar Land, who turned out to be none other than Big Boss himself, and had command of another Metal Gear tank as well as Snake's former comrade Gray Fox. Snake defeats Gray Fox and the new Metal Gear. Before defeating Big Boss and for good, Snake learned that the super soldier Big Boss was his genetic "father."
After the Zansibar Uprising, Snake returnes to North America, and retires to a Alaskan wilderness retreat, Twin Lakes, to try to forget his war-torn past and recover from post-traumatic stress disorder. But when members of a recently re-formed unit Foxhound took over the supposed nuclear disposal facility on Shadow Moses Island (really a testing ground for the new Metal Gear), Cambell came calling for Snake again. This time, Snake finds himself pitted against superhuan soldiers, enhanced by genetic tampering. The leader of Foxhound was revealed to be "Liquid Snake," Solid Snake's own genetic brother and the spoiled outcast of the "Les Enfants Terrible" super soldier project. After destroying the new Metal Gear REX and eliminating Liquid during an intense car chase, Snake goes into deep hiding with his new partner, Metal Gear REX engineer Hal Emmerich.
The two men work to create the first anti-Metal Gear political group, called "Philanthropy." Snake and Otacon, needing photographic proof that the Marine Corps is developing a new amphibious Metal Gear, proceed to New York City, following up a rumor that a ship carrying such proof is scheduled to travel through the Hudson. While investigating, the ship and Metal Gear Ray are taken by Gurlukovich mercinaries. As they were about to take Metal Gear Ray, Revolver Ocelot betrays Sergi Gurlukovich, and takes Ray for an unknown force.
Framed for the terrorist act, Solid Snake is belived to have been killed during the incident, and his body is buried (it was actually the body of his twin brother, Liquid Snake). During an incident at Big Shell, a year later, Solid Snake turns up (hiding his identity), and assists new Foxhound operative, Raiden, in rescuing hostages and discovering the plot of former President George Sears who reveals himself to be the third "son" of Big Boss, brother of Solid and Liquid Snake and the one who ordered Ocelot to steal Metal Gear Ray. Calling himself Solidus Snake, the leader of the Sons of Liberty, he is working to overthrow a mysterious underlying force that drives the world governments called the Patriots. Ocelot then betrays Solidus, upon the orders of the Patriots. At the end of this mission, Snake begins looking into who are the Patriots and how Ocelot is involved.
SAM FISHER
It is the year 2003.
In response to the growing use of sophisticated digital encryption to conceal potential threats to the national security of the United States, the NSA (National Security Agency) has ushered forth a new dawn of intelligence-gathering techniques. This top-secret initiative is dubbed Third Echelon. Denied to exist by the U.S. government, Third Echelon deploys elite intelligence-gathering units consisting of a lone field operative supported by a remote team. Like a sliver of glass, a Splinter Cell is small, sharp, and nearly invisible.
March 10, 2004
The CIA contacted NSA officials regarding the loss of contact with Agent Alison Madison, a CIA operative monitoring widespread communication shortages plaguing the former Soviet Republic of Georgia.
A second operative, Agent Blaustein, was inserted into the Georgian capital T'bilisi to locate Agent Madison, only to drop from contact seven days later. Fearing for the lives of American agents compromised at the hands of a suspected terrorist effort, Third Echelon has activated operative Sam Fisher to locate the missing agents and evaluate the situation.
You are Sam Fisher you must leave no trace on the physical or political map. Remember: Although killing may compromise secrecy, the choice between leaving a witness or a corpse is no choice at all. You are a Splinter Cell.
2006: The U.S. installs a temporary military base on East Timor to train the developing defense force of the "world's youngest democracy." Resistance to the U.S. military presence in Southeast Asia is widespread and passionate, but the threat Indonesian militias pose to Timorese democracy is deemed sufficient justification. Anti-U.S. resentment comes to a head under the leadership of guerrilla militia leader Suhadi Sadono, acting with the unofficial support of major corrupt factions of the Indonesian government. Suhadi's men attack and occupy the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, taking dozens of civilian and military personnel hostage.
Sam Fisher must defend and assist the U.S. military, both locally and from remote locations, until Suhadi's terror-driven policies can be subverted and the guerrilla faction eradicated.
It's your turn to decide, pick wisely...
Sam Fisher rules all
Sam Fischer no question about it, frankly it has more to do with the game then the actual character; and Splinter Cell is THE GAME, realism for me is of the upmost importance and Splinter Cell can't be compared in any way to Metal Gear (Ninja's?), it just blows it away. So Sam Fischer's the man, plus Ironside's (Total Recall) voice is freaky.
Sam Fisher has his good points but Solid Snake is the best! He's not just trained as an operative like Sam Fisher. He is a highly skilled and elite soldier as well as being a highly skilled stealth operative!
Gabe Logan from Syphon Filer series was supposed to be in my voting pole, but i cant decide between him and Snake.
So mine total vote is :
Gabe Logan and Snake.
P.S. Some people may sya that Syphon filter is typical action, but i want to suggest you to check new syphon series on PS 2 going out.
Peace
im sorry but this guy here:
simply rules...
I mean, he's not 'fake' like all the others.
I've played metal gear and splinter cell 1,2 and will play 3 when it comes out, because it will allow for cooperative mode!!!! two agents doing what one used to do for all this time, omg omg!!
For example, you'll have one guy jump onto a wall and hang onto the roof edge while the other climbs on the first and gets on the roof, readies his SC2000, while looking back to see if the other climbed up.
(e3 2004 video for Splinter cell 3)
there is no doubt this game beats all other stealth inspired games, and the fact that its made by the team that rolled out Tom Clancy's Rainbow6 3...
Plus, Sam just feels more real than all the others that just look like typical action heros, yata yata yata....
The Unreal engine helps  plus, the voiceover from Micheal Ironside makes it all worth it.
I might be biased to the fact that he works for the US govm'/military, and that I am a pure US militarist and patriot, but who cares
one thing...Sam, get that little crappy Five-SeveN out of your holster , and PLEASE go for the HK23 .45 SOCOM
In the game (Splinter Cell 2), if u pay attention u'll notice that Fisher mentions he used to be a US Navy SEAL, now if that's not " highly skilled and elite soldier", then nothing is; plus it's a real unit not like "Foxhound". Also the stories in SC aren't too far fetched, they reflect certain global conflicts and issues today (what did u expect from Tom Clancy) none of this:
"Framed for the terrorist act, Solid Snake is belived to have been killed during the incident, and his body is buried (it was actually the body of his twin brother, Liquid Snake). During an incident at Big Shell, a year later, Solid Snake turns up (hiding his identity), and assists new Foxhound operative, Raiden, in rescuing hostages and discovering the plot of former President George Sears who reveals himself to be the third "son" of Big Boss, brother of Solid and Liquid Snake and the one who ordered Ocelot to steal Metal Gear Ray."
Just reading that paragraph my brain went: what the f*&k is going on here? Leave it to the Japanese to make the weirdest plot twists in the world, it's like they're all high on crystal meth.
And ya HK MK-23 SOCOM all the way! But u got to give the 5-7 credit, it's got a WAY faster bullet that penetrates armour real good when compared to the subsonic .45 ACP, only the HK 4.6 (MP7 PDW, no pistol yet) has better performance for a weapon that size.
Just check the size of those rounds!
And the standard Famas in the first Metal Gear sucks compared to the Fabrique National F2000 with silencer and special grenade launcher with scope in SC1/2/3.
nice field strip....i also like the mechanisim behind the ejector for the FN 2000, lifting the shell up and ejecting it out :D
anyway, i dont wanna go off topic (even though u can clearly see what i just said when u see sam reloading his gun, as the spent bullets come out from the front of his rifle, or of course, while he is shooting)
Well, i hate to brake it down to you guys but they're both FAKE! They're not REAL! You get me? Good, glad we got that out of the way, now we can discuss it in more detail ;)
Um.. i dont really know who Sam Fisher but since i've only played Metal Gear Solid a little bit i'd say Snake.
Just my 2 cents!
