one of my works has been ripped quite bladently...

I was approached by a company if I would do a couple of free lance works for them...Design some drafts and get payed for each draft...well I guess you can guess..the drafts were produced, but no cash comes in...

and then I find this :P Top one my draft, bottom one, online site (at asivdb.be)

always take the money first and then give your work, I always take 75-100% of the money and then start working.

hmm...not sure in what kinda circumstances you work in...

but usually in business terms you sent of your invoice ones your job is done....the other party usually is given 30 days to pay (as they might need to show off and sell the product to third party as well)

In any case, free lancing without having a proper contract sucks....
it was a one time thing, and didnt believe I needed one...as the guy seemed friends etc. anyway.....

well there we go...trust noone :)

OUCH! nexflo, i've been there before, producing work for people then they turn their backs and disapear :x I understand what u mean about the freelancing world where u produce the work then charge later... but this is different. You can only learn from your mistakes, and on the net the rules change. Now i NEVER accept any form of work unless there's 50% upfront payment then work will begin. After showing them samples or final pieces (with sample text watermarks) they pay the final 50% and the work is delivered to them in its pure form

Still... there are a lot of dishonest people out there - its very hard to find real, true clients. Or even friends/buddies... thats why i only keep it real with my homies 8)

u know who u are....

Damn, yup it happened again. I was approached by this software company to come up with an interface for their latest WebEditor software and in exchange i was promised my very own pixel editing software (like MS Paint but much more powerful). And yeah, i start the work on time, while keeping in contact with the people over AIM and showing them samples and progress reports. But once the project is finished they asked for a final sample so i obviously gave them the full version except heavily "waermarked" off course ;)

They approved of it and heres the interesting part: I NEVER HEARED FROM THEM AGAIN!

I dont get it, why waste people's time? They clearly didnt get anything out of it too since i never gave them the full version, only a blurry watermarked totally unusable copy! *sigh*
