Planet Side Wallpaper

Hey guys well this is my first shot on making planets as a wall paper. tell me what you thinck and what i could do to make it better :D

Planet Side Wallpaper

Moon:

The moon does not have an atmosphere.

Well at least not one as significant as the one depicted in your wallpaper.
4 main elements reside in the moon's "atmosphere": Helium, Argon, and Sodium and potassium ions, which in total do not count for 10% of this atm.

Saturn:

Saturn's rings are way bigger, brighter, and composed of different elements ( i.e. different colors such as yellow, blue), and the ring(s) are farther away from the planet itself. Also, saturn is a little more "yellow" than that. And the rings are abundant in material and very dense, depending on the individual rings, thus they aren't as translucent, some are more some are less.

However, with technical incorrectness aside :P, it is a nice graphic and from an artistical point of view, it's a cool wallpaper.
Just tone down on the trendwhorish GUI stuff.
The infocards are cool, but if you're going to include them, at least make the fonts bigger for them to be readable, had to stick my eyes onto my screen to read the Moon's infocard.

lmao yeah thanks for the good info ill try and see if i can add an atmosphere and as for the info cards i made it small to to make looks or whatever but it is atucaly a sentence about the moon :D

Edit
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

yeah well i changed the planet saturn to mars since the moon and mars are so common to our explorartion. That star tut is pretty well done and i like it the hard part was choosing what brushes to use :P

Yep... get rid of that crap, boxes, lines, 45 degree lines, bar...(all of it) If you must include 'Impulse Fusion' have it as a subtle copyright or the other extreme use it as a more significant element within the whole peice.

I'm guessing you already know about this website. [ Link ]

ok well i fixed some of the lines and stuff made it more clear :D

ok well i finaly found out how to make the nebula and star bursts and i decided make real information about the planets take a look. :D

Planet Side Wallpaper

There is a typo error: "ultrav iolet"you mean... "ultra violet"
The nebula looks over the top and stands out too much imo.

The nebula detracts from the planets now, the whole thing looks too 'busy' and you've also destroyed your focal point in the process. Maybe create one or two soft dust clouds (similar to before) that reside in the background to add interest, but don't make them the centre of attention.

It looks like a harsh mess of cloud filters, they're an eye-sore; contrast too much, sharp edged and simply don't look realistic.

You could look into using bitmap/pixel fonts for the information if you're set on having the text at a small size.

Exactly. :)

ok well i suddenly got the hang of it with the nebulas :D

take a look now

They still look crap. Out of place. Too obvious and bright, saturated and they appear too soon. Stand out too much etc.
Brows DA, spend time looking at other space art. See what you are doing wrong.

ok give me a tut on how u do it

I don't do it, I didn't say I do it and I don't intend to any time soon...
However for tuts perhaps try:

ok thanks ill tend to work on it

Ok well i did some more editing and thincking tell me if this is right :D

Planet Side Wallpaper

Whats with all the lense flairs about. Too many imo. Nebulas look much, much better, but far over contrasted.

lol its only two umm i thinck its fine cuz its like from a camera view you know what i mean :P

ill clean it up a bit though :D

Guess i'm just not a fan of lense flairs in space scenes.

na your right i had to many circle blends but i fixed it. check it out

Planet Side Wallpaper

ooo looks nice - this one is much better as a wallpaper than the 1st one you did. Keep up the improvements...

I know im right.... :P Yea, better. :)

yeah thanks and finally i get it right LoL.

It dont load for me.

host is down i gues...
however.. plase lose the small textfields.. they suck ;)..

or make them better.

yeah the server is down for some reason ill try to get it up

lens flares can be actually very usefull in space scenes, for example, having the camera orbiting around a planet looking at it's edge and having the sun or wtvr star behind the planet, with a very bright lens flare/glow coming out from the edge...there was a very nice shot in one of the old STAR WARS movies with that effect, trying to remember where it was, ill post a pic.

well i remembered the scene as having a lens flare + glow but looks like its only the glow, anyway, after half an hour of looking at all the DVDs i found the scene weeeeeeee

and i see what your saying sith

well the server is being switched tomorrow but i cant get the forums up (db problems you know how that is) but the site is up.

ok server is back up :D

Still think thoes info cards could do with some improvement if your mind is still set on keeping them atall. I love grey. But here I think it dosent look right. I thought perhaps low-opacity box to help look kinda like a holographic display blah blah. fitting with the space theme. Did a 2 min try to show what im on about. But you could do better.

i like your idea but it would be to hard to see the text your way :(

Up the opacity of the text a little then.

hmm ok how about this ?

Planet Side Wallpaper

yea better.

Its much better.. greatly improved and you can actually read the text too ;)
