I always take ages in my paintings and often drawings too. I prefer to go slowly but with much accuracy and precision. I plan things out carefully. I don’t like a sloppy image. I don’t like imperfections. I am a perfectionist. However I do really need to try and balance it out and spend a little less time on accuracy, precision, detail and whatnot and try to not worry and get more done. With that in mind, I did three quick still-life speed paintings. I tried to portray the emotions "happiness" “sadness” and "anger" with my use of colour. I don’t know if that worked or not.
As they were done in my sketchbook I used acrylics rather than oils. Horrible to use because they dry so damn quick. Oh well, even though it is hard to blend, at least it helps speed me up.
Happiness - 2 hours
Sadness - 1.30 hours
Anger - 1 hour
Nice one from you, you do have much ideas i see :) GOOD!
neat.. the colours sure give a helping hand to the mood of the picture :)..

Welcome to the club ;)
Nicely done, if you think hard about the background you can turn this image into something awesome. Think cubism style background or something similar to balance it
Thanks.
Inaccurate shadows, perspective.. Its not worthy of any more of my time. So sod the background :P. I’ll be doing another fast painting soon though.
Damn, there goes any remaining perfectionist brain cells out the window... but looking forward to whatever is coming to replace this painting though.
Any ideas what it will be?
Yep. Just a few more quick colour study acrylic paintings. Most probably still-life again. In fact I think I will edit this post and put them in here also.
OK - Edited. Another two have been added. Thats my lot for now, back to work on orgalopolis project.
Nice.. they look good, and the colour fits the mood too. One thing i noticed, look at the tin can in the happiness piece. Is it me or is the perspective a bit wrong there ;)
Good work overall - keep it up.
Yea, the perspective is screwd up all over the place. :P
