Best Antivirus Programm

Well i just tested all latest antivirus programms from 4 developers: Symantec (Norton AntiviRus 2004 Pro), KasperskyLab(Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0), DrWeb 4.31b, AntivirXP.

Mine conclusion is : Kaspersky is the best of all those.

It detects the viruses that Norton even dont detect! It's database is update every 4 hours a day!

Ofcource everything has its bad sides so this are the AVP's bugs:

1. It slows down your system much cause does really powerful file checking processes.
2. Needs good configuring, otherwise your PC will slow bad then in 1.

Also if you want to be fully protected from all existing viruses i suggest you installing Kaspersky AVP. It is easy to remove it also and it dont lives with ya system like Norton. Also beware of Antivir XP really awful product, first of laggs ya PC while checking driver files( the lagg can last up to 20 minutes!). DrWeb sometimes makes normal files being suspected, despite the fact you download them from highly-trusted developers official websites.

P.S. Tell what antivirus programm you using and what bugs you mentioned.

First bug i found at Kaspersky AVP. Whenever installing the antivirus it is required to turn off all the programms running. Otherwise everytime you run this programm the Floppy Disk will make a sound.

I've been using Norton AntiVirus 2004 - dont think i'll use anything else since it gets the job done - just make sure you update the product regularly to get the latest Virus Definitions and you'll be fine.

They're also quick at releasing virus patches and fixes so you'll be guranteed a safe future!

Yea but try to uninstall it and you will grant yourself a 1 days of registry cleaning! Also i had a funny story with mine friend. He had Win Xp and Win 98. So he used Norton on Xp(updated with that day available updates) and Kaspersky on Win98. So he checked his PC for viruses and Norton GRANTED no viruses found :D And then he turned AVP(with old database) and it detected 8 viruses! So it gives a perfect picture of what Symantecs creature is.

I'm pretty happy with Norton 2004 too, no problems and like Bio mentioned the virus definitions keep on coming in.

Anti Virus software is a compromise. The more secure and strict the more resources it uses therefore the slower the pc becomes.

No software can gurantee to protect you from all viruses, its a FACT!

Nope it is a fact for Norton, but not for Kaspersky AVP. DETECTS absolutely all, if you keep up in the date with updates ofcource.

I use AVG Anti Virus on my pc and it works great. I am actually also a reseller for them so I am able to sell licenses for a slightly cheaper price. If any of you are interested let me know.

whats AVG is?

AVG is an anti-virus product, its widly recognised but not as mainstream as Norton and other similar products. Heres more info:
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_avg_index.php

P.s. theres a FREE Edition so no need to pay ;)

There is also soem Panda what it is all about?

I use alot of dif AV's.
1. Norton Anti-Virus Pro 2003
2. Bitdefender Pro v7.2
3. F-Prot
4. PestPatrol

I run all of these at the same time, doesn't slow down my computer at all (i guess its cuz my computer is just so dam leet :o)
I tried Kapersky, didn't like it, some viruses it didn't detect. And so far F-Prot and BitDefender are probably my fav, BitDefender updates like every 4 hours aswell. And it also includes a firewall (Even tho im already running ZoneAlarm Pro (only turn it on when im sleeping), Kerio Professional (Great Firewall, the best i think) and ofcourse BitDefender. I once used BlackIce firewall but it has to many exploits and bugs. I dont think its very good.

Lol Nyx you damn insane? I guess you were hard to read that using more then 1 antivirus programm at a time can cause many probs in system?

Well technically yes, it does slow down ur pc since every file that goes in/out needs to be checked for viruses by each of the AV programs independantly.

I just chose Norton AV and stuck with it - its one of those things, preference rules at the end hehehe :)

Yea i think so too Bio, nothign would make me change mine Kaspersky on some outer world AVP.

Ok im now going to have to reconsider. Since my latest line of work involves working with Sophos Corps, i have to truthfully say, SOPHOS AntiVirus is the way to go.

Trust me, i've had access to very private documents to compare ALL the leading software in the security market ;)
Symantec has a bigger share in the home user market but the charts all point towards Sophos since its leading the corporate market. File size is only a fraction of the other competitors, and i've now tested them all and worked through them under virus/lab conditions. The system guard is almost invisible too and can be set to LOW priority so that it doesnt consume too much CPU resources.

Having said all the above, the only thing im not happy with is Sophos AV GUI - their graphical user interface needs some improvements since nowadays regular people/clients compare by visually looking at the products and seeing which one LOOKS nicer :? This is where Norton is beating the rest.

*BioALIEN goes to uninstall Norton and installs Sophos*

Oh advertisment, how much they payed you Bio?

That was a product review not an advertisement. Since when you started this topic you wanted to know what everyone else thought ;)

About my payments, thats confidential matters that cant be disclosed here!

I think i'd go with Norton.

I guess everybody seen Norton Antivirus 2005? whats da opinions?

I just got my hands on it.. Will install it soon and give you my feedback, a few of my friends were really impressed by Norton antivirus and security suit. So i think they've made some good improvements

Well dunno, for me all Norton products working good until one good day, when they kill ya system :)

Unbelievable: yesterday a friend of mine recommended a new anti virus product (Panda Antivirus) which he just started using. I wasnt convinced, but he said it was better than Norton Antivirus. And he's been using Norton for many years.

After talking to him about the program, and some screenshots i was finally convinced to test drive it myself. I downloaded and installed Panda, and  im not joking when i say the way this beast works is pure magic. Already detected existing live sneaky mofo viruses on my PC which norton never informed me about. Its less than 30MB in size and this includes:
- AntiVirus Protection
- AntiSpam Protection
- Anti Spy-ware Protection
- Anti Dialer Protection
- Firewall Protection
- WebContent Filtering

All this is so much faster than norton at a fraction of the size. Its swift in the way it reports errors and keeps a big graphically pleasing eye on your computer while you work peacefully.

Recommend it to everyone out there. Its time to say bye bye to norton and hello to:

Russian people know A LOT more than most of the people from other countries. We are smarter and stronger too, so don't start anything here punk :!:

Thanks for support nox, but i guess there was some misunderstanding.

lol :p
yeah it was early ;) just woke up :)

but there are programs that bio knows and you dont redd ;) and otherwise ;) so nothing is old ;) and everybody is young enough to discover :)

Well for Bio claiming to be a Mr. Know Everything it is kinda funny not to know about that antivirus from our Spanish friends.

Yeah i heard of it before.. while working with sophos corps i had to learn and identify all their competition. But i never thought Panda was this good. But heres an update:

After installing the panda Platinum Security 2004 there was a big fight between MS SP2 Firewall and the Panda Firewall. Agent Smith vs Neo style battle. And surprise surprise, i ended up with no internet for 2 days, and forced to remove panda internet security. Now i just installed Panda Antivirus on its own without the firewall and other internet related services.

Im kinda sad though, cos it even detects and removes those scary joke apps, and the viruses i archived for educational purposes. I protected those viruses inside secure ZIP files. Its amazing how it managed to get inside and disinfect them all

But i recommend people wait for the 2005 release. You can download a trial from their website:
www.pandasoftware.com

Bio Panda s*cks Kaspersky balls !

Just for everybody to know on the latest antivirus tests the winners were our antiviruses !!! MUAHAHAHAHA !!!

Here are the results : the top winner Dr.Web missed 12 viruses, not far away from him comes KAspersky AVp Personal 5.0 with missing of 14 viruses and long way back comes the Norton who misssed 25 viruses. Here is the way game goes fellas!
