BioGame Rifle

I guess I'd like to submit a concept rifle that I've been working on for the past week, I know it doesn't look too futuristic, but I felt a more realistic design (engineering wise) would be acceptable in the long run.

Blaze commented that it looked somewhat uncomfortable, please direct your critisms my way and add any comment you feel appropriate (for example: why does it look too uncomfortable, what needs changing?). Remember this is nothing more than a preliminary design, and would probably evolve beyond what u see now (or evetually be replaced).

Note: I suck at texture and lighting work, so bear with me for a while.

Thank you for any comments.

Gab

i love the selector u made heha!

Nice work, although this is a bit too futuristic, it would have been nice to keep the weapons all real life - to make the game more realistc and believable  ;)

Note: i've edited the topic above to show the pictures rather than just links!

@Bio, thanks for the pics; from the concept drawings I saw, all the equipment looked....well.....beyond futuristic.

lol, the selector weighs in at a couple thousand polys by itself.

Bio, what were u looking for? A "real" rifle (a la M-4, SA-80) or a rifle that "looks" real and conforms to traditional designs?
All other Biogame weapons concepts (drawings mostly) that I've seen look far more far-fetched than the design above, in fact apart from the curves around it's profile many current rifles (including England's SA-80) present the same design characters as the concept above.

Just asking.

Among others the GIAT FAMAS from France is similar to this.

Looks really good GabRaz!

Hehehe calm down, that was a compliment there from me, but u know the BioALIEN never reveals too much goodness with his words ;)

I like it, texture could be better though, overall work: 8/10

No, I'm not mad, just want to know what u meant by "realistic and beleivable", as in it would actually work? Or that it actually exists (real rifles). I might try out a real rifle (though I doubt I'd have much success).

Gabraz i can tell you what probs i found in the whole model idea. The model looks original (or not, dunno maybe this weapon exists, ask Sith ), but there is no place to handell the gun. Since it is a sub-mashinegun it has soem space to hold it. I guess you did just a quick show off the whole idea and possibly you will add more textures to it.
Peace

Good work, but I think the main problem is in the (I wonder how it will be in english)... place where amo is kept.

The clip ;)

@RedD, the rifle itself doesn't exist, though the general concept of a Bullpup (where the magazine and bolt assembly is placed behind the pistol grip) is widely used even in Russia where Special Forces use the OC-14 "Groza" in 9x39mm subsonic or 7.62x39mm ball. I expected the users left hand to be placed on the sloped handguard in front of the rifle giving it a tommy-gun feel; generally a weapon of this size can't be considered a sub-gun because of the length of the barrel (in this case exceeding 14 inches). As for the textures, I admit I lack any experience in that field, the colors used here are just the standard colors in 3D max without any amount of tweaking.

LoL, don't need to ask Sith, as brothers we generally have the same amount of info.

@Blaze, like I mentioned to RedD, many current rifles now use this configuration. Here are just a few:

Steyr AUG (Austria)

Famas G2 (France)

Groza OC-14 (Russia)

Yea Yea i know about Groza.

The Famas G2 (France) Is a bit jagged round edges, but the other two are superb!

FN F2000 is another example, and an example that Gab is talking about (making a "real" gun but not existing already) is the modified F2000 for Splinter Cell

All the stuff in Splinter Cell is either real or in development. Anyway, to the gun, I think it looks like a low-tech sub-machine gun from Halo 2. But it's still very nice! 8/10

LOL, Godless, that's what Greg meant: a rifle that's around now but that looks futuristic. But what Splinter Cell proposes with the SC 20K is pure fiction right now, especially the various ammo loads and rate of fire of the grenade launcher (and no silencer has ever been tested on the F2000)

I dont mind a few concepts that are realistic enough but havnt been developed. But we cant have a whole game based on this ;)

Do u think you'll add texture to this rifle?

Can't tell right now, finals and projects (including an HPV) are coming up so I don't know if i'd have the time right now (not to mention i suck at texturing)

looks like something from the movies Aliens ... nevertheless, very nice job.

Thanks, though I doubt I'd ever have the time to finish it soon.

I'm sure it says it somewhere, either in the instruction booklet or on the website. I'll check now.

Edit:

Well it looks like I was wrong, I can't find it anywhere. I'm sure I saw it somewhere. :(
