irc is obviously the worst choice....msg after msg,you can't track anything anymore in meetings on irc...msn is more *family* :? and can be controlled easily
forum? :S, that wud be to hard. lots of spamming.. i think MSN/IRC/WebChat wud be the best, as its real time. It wud be to hard with the forum.. right?
Well, we always have the forum here, this is more general - where people who lead a busy life can come and check. Because its not as easy to have online meetings since not everyone will be available at that specific hour, given the time zone difference!
forum will be slower...like, u have to wait for someone to think about a good post then post it the next day...productivity goes way down....you speed things up with msn or other conference-enabled IM programs with a couple (or many other) well established and set meeting times where everyone has to sacrifice an hour of his day...you get all the info quick and at that time. and can always scroll back to it provided you have logging enabled
I don't insist on forum. I hink webchat is better, but you see engish is not my native language so it will be hard (I think) to speak in real time. Maybe I am wrong but I never tried!
i never liked having meetings in IRC...i mean, i like the concept, but if the channel is not moderated, youll have pm after pm of useless messages using all the colours and shapes possible just to make your screen look like it's spewing chinese food from the third dimentia...all people like to see is:

Uhm, Sithlord, I own quiet some chans (and some are big) at IRC, if someone uses away message 1 time, he'll get kicked, 2nd time 5 min ban, 3rd time day, 4th time life :) Never had to give a lifetime ban ;) So it works ...
There are also bots who automaticly kicks people who have a script writing this messages, so problem solved :)

OR we can go back to reality and keep using this forum for the time being, cos these plans are over a month away. They're not anytime soon, because some parts of the project still need major thoughts. Afterall, thats what this forum is for!
Having a meeting with anything over 3 people becomes pointless beacuse whatever u say wont go in, where as here they can come back and refer to it, and it'll also favour the people who miss the meetings, and the people who cant make it due to time zone difference. So lets cool down and not make a big deal out of this... YET!
I'd say MSN but i know at some point or another i'll be forced to setup and establish a webchat server for GfxDiary and move the meetings there.

irc/webchat should be the same thing. Can just have a irc webchat. No downloading, no registering.

webchat would be best due to the fact that no one has to download anything if they dont allready have msn, irc, aim, ect.
