Yesterday I downloaded a 30 day trial version of 3Ds max 6 and when I tried to install it, a window came up and said that the trial version is only for Windows 2000 and XP. I have a Windows ME and basically what I'm saying is, do any of you know where I can can download another trial version of 3Ds max that's compatible with windows ME?
www.discreet.com ? if its not there, it wont be anywhere :(, upgrade to XP! ^^
Looks like I'll have to upgrade to XP then. The only problem is I'm on my parent's computer so it's likely to take a while. :(
XP is a better alternative and a more attractive offer than staying on Win ME and using another 3dmax if you can find one available for it.
Getting Xp is what you should probably do following the circumstances, but as a 3d graphics designer, id say that its the worst windows system for 3dmodeling if your pc is weak...to generate all that crappy and usuless WinXP gui and have 3dsmax on,it tends to boggle up memory...like,omg,i consider sometimes downgrading all these graphics from windows XP even thought i have 2gegs of ram with a 2.8HT...however,last week, i wuz lured into the world of WindowsBlinds and right now my whole windows GUI has an Nvidia skin and wallpaper...i mean,it doesnt Really slow u down,u dont notice it,but ur cpu does as windows XP tends to want all the memory you can allocate to it,and so does 3dsmax...blablabla,ill shut up now
there's a way to disable all this nonshibbyness though, its quiet easy to make it 100% faster as in its original state. ^^
yup,forgot about that...Desktop right click-properties-apperance-classic
+ u can disable all the fading effects and other crappy animations
+ u can disable that ANNOYING error reporting and other crappy things like Remote assistance, system restore...which saturate ram and page filing.
+ u cant disable the ANOYING N00B search :S switch it to "proffesional" immidiately after install!
