Well guys, I was working on the tutorial for 3ds max, and I came across some buttons I couldn't remember the names of, so I checked the online reference... And it hit me: "Damn, there's so much work put into this explanation, that what I'm doing right now is a waste of time, considering everybody already have such tutorials at their hands, in such good quality!" So I deleted... But don't worry, I'll make a new tutorial.
Check the poll for what's next.
I say give us some water powers to play with. Combined with a mirror tutorial its everything we need - a silver wet looking GfxDiary theme :D
if you will not create a basic tutorial, how we can do more advanced ones? lol :?
lets get some wet looking maps :D
Easy noxcel my hairy little monster ;)
IN 3ds max, the help references there, and the tutorial references there have guides, explanations, and tutorials that should teach it all to you much better than what I can do...
So start by reading that, it's actually the very best source to start with.If you got MSN, contact me. Opfang@hotmail.com and I will show you where to find it.
:? ELF you're missing the point, nobody likes the official references and manuals that come with software. We'd rather learn or read it from our homies or ELFs we can relate to and understand since they speak the same wavelength.

exactly
OMG... if you demand better than what you find there, I just have to redraw as tutorial writer before I even get started... :S
No we didnt say better, just easier, simpler, less non sense and more friendly! ;)
Please please please don't make me do it!!
It's just too big for me to start up with...
And I don't think it will help in any way, the stuff that comes with max might be confusing because of all the information there is, but it's great stuff...
So lets just start with the "small stuff"
Besides, people start with the max reference, and if you need help, ask here at the forum, and I'll answer the questions!
Your the writer, you dont have to write something you're not comfortable with. Just get your act together and release something :P
A tutorial i would want is from a n00b like me, to undersand all these splines and stuff like that, how to model that way...i tryed and i cant do it!
Vinc3, I know exactly what you're talking about there, I had the same problem too, but the problem is that I suck at explaining modelling..
The best tutorial I've found for spline modelling till now was in "Inside 3ds max 4", from new writers publishing...
Problem is just, the book isn't really worth all that money :(
Maybe I should start a course in modelling, with life conferences ;)
Elf havnt you got some old tutorials you've written? For a tutorial writer you must have some existing material you can add to the tut section! :?:
I have one...
Actually, here's the story:
One day I was exploring the mental ray renderer in 3ds max, and came a cross something: this was the first render I had ran into that didn't have SSS (sub surface scattering)
So I went on to investigate possibilities for faking the SSS in a way that would look cool and realistic.
I came across a couple of techniques at the discreet support forum, and in the end, I found a pretty nice way to do this SSS faking.
So I decided "Hey, other people should have the possibility to do this, without all the hastle of finding the technique!" So I began writing a tutorial, and got the admin at 3dluvr.com to throw it up on their site.
So up there came my first and for now only tutorial.
Then one day, I got a mail from a little very confused dutch programmer ;) That's right, our very own Thomas.
He couldn't find a rollout in 3ds max, and instead of trying to explain it to him over mail, I gav ehim my MSN mail.
We then began talking, and then one day he asked me, if I wanted to be mod at the new version of his GFX site that he was doing with a friend.
Of course, I said yes, because I liked writing the first tutorial, so why not make more? Thomas kept telling me my tutorial was perfect, so I guess they would be ok...
Oh, and I have made 2 tutorials else, but one was for a friend, and doesn't exist anymore, just like the other, which was... pretty bad...
Dirt and refelctions, tutorial starting the day after tomorrow... I still have to be done with my moped, but soon I'll get lots of time (Don't bite my head off Bio, I WILL get something up before the 20th)
heheh well, i just want you to look at the tut section. Theres a basic tutorial to get people started in all active sections (HTML/PHP/MySQL) if you dont come up with a 3dmax i'll be forced to make one myself. ;)
Only time will tell, but the result is immenent, the GfxDiary users will get what they rightfully deserve! A nice intro and basics of 3D Max from somebody they can understand.
p.s. i still need to upload the Photoshop basic tutorial.
I dont know how to add colorfull skins to the objects, put that in tutorial, how to make grass things on pryamids.
