OK, i know some of you out there like this forum but just want to see more sections added. I've already have requests for a Movie forum, freelance section etc. etc.
Well, i want to find out what everyone wants to see added here. What sections do you think we should add? Come out with your ideas...
The Entertainment category was added containing:
- Games Talk
- Movie Talk
- Music Talk
In the future i would like to improve the JobShop forum so it can be better organised. Maybe even set up an Advertising Forum with detailed categories. That will be one of the targets once we reach 1000 members!
can i create pollS?
you can only create polls when you make your own topic/thread.
For each topic that you start you can set up a poll (bottom of the message posting page). All polls are restricted to 10 poll options!
Lakers forum:) or just a sports forum for all of the sports.
Once GfxForum reaches 10,000 posts we can be open to possibly adding the Sports Talk/Discussion. At the moment we're trying to keep all posts relavant to design/web and of course helping people with their random encounters :)
extra teristreal forum

k, i will spam about sport in the general section than:)
Maximum limit increased to 10,000 posts :P
Reason: The post count is increasing too quick, i need more time to fully think this through and probably implement a system that makes the forum index shorter (sub-categories, collapse/expand forums, hide/show forums etc...)
What about politics forums? dunno how most of thse here, but i care about politics and know some.
we're from different countrys... the only thing we could discuss is american politics and the good sides and bad sites of socialism and democratism etc. I think we wouldnt have much to talk about it ...
Im with Thomas on that one. e already have too many forums, the GfxForum is getting big and i dont wanna make it get outta hand. This is a graphics site! All other forums here are related to graphics in one form or another. The only outsider being Sports forum, but thats something everybody does!
hmm, here's so many forums..
i think heres enough. it will be a little tricky to create new forums thats about graphics thats nok covered by some of the others.
or do this site contain much more than graphics?
we started as graphics but our aim has expanded to multimedia in general. Since design is linked with music, animation, programming, web design!
After a quick browse through GfxForum and its history & log files, it seems we're lacking an Advertising Forum where people can post special offers and other related goods. It seems people have been using the Domain & Hosting, Showcase and JobShop to advertise their offers.
However, we'll need to find a solution for the ever increasing size - to ease the browsing on GfxForum.
For the next version maybe we'll create a collapsable structure where u can minimise the unwanted categories on the forum ;)
well I didn't read all about this topic and the other topic about gfxdiary improvement but i was wondering why there isn't forum part where we can exhange more detail about ourselves, I know there is introduction part but it's too small...
i like this forum but i dunno know about the members!
personal pictures, job, study, and more
maybe we can be closer... friendly of course
Marnie, since this is a graphics, design and multimedia site we want to keep it within this focus. So an "Introduction Forum" is all thats needed to get to know the members on a personal level.
HOWEVER! What you've talked about above, is exactly what FriendScene.com (our current project) is about. The site is 80% complete - but we want to make sure its absolutely ready before launch.
Update: FriendScene.com is now launched off course, so thats out of the way in case wondering marnie ;)
TODO: GfxForum needs some restructuring in the next phase of GD2005! Expect to see new forums added, sub-forums introduced, and some forums to be deleted or renamed. GD has evolved greatly since we started the forum so its about time we update the forum to reflect the strong areas which people use regularly.
Give me your thoughts on how the structure should be? How do you want the forum organised? How forums grouped?
Theres too many posts in the DropZone, the overall GfxForum structure is weak. It needs better organisation. Heres what i have in mind:
DropZone
- Announcements
- Introduction
- GfxNews
- Site Feedback
GfxZone
- 3D Art
- Animation & Flash
- Bitmap, Paint & Sketch Art
- Vector Art
- Photography
- Extreme: Contests | GfxWar Zone | Tutorials (subforums)
SiteZone
- BioGame
- General: Game | Music | Movies | Sport (subforums)
TechZone
- Computers: Hardware | Software (subforums)
- Programming: Front End | Back End | Other Languages | Tutorials (subforums)
WebZone
- Advertising Opportunities & Special Offers
- Hosting & Domain Related
- JobShop
- Showcase
- Xpose
The topics in the DropZone forum will be moved and distributed around the other forums. The topics that dont fit anywhere would be removed. There will no longer be a forum for any random and unrelated topic postings. What do you guys think of this format? Im trying to reduce the size of the GfxForum yet still offer specific categories for everybody:?:
Nice idea.
We still need a forum for random posts about random stuff...
A place where people can show off some funny flash movie or some website with cool keyboards for 3d animators, or some motion tracking systems, or some whitepapers, or someone can show off a hairtest that went wrong etc.
The discreet support forum (Which is suppose to be for SUPPORTING, and some gallery, just like here) got the take 5 forum. Most used forum there where 3d maxers exchange interesting subjects that don't necesarily apply completely to 3d, but might serve as inspiration, or a small thing to take your mind otherwise. digital artists often share alike interests besides the computers and graphics.
Just under dropzone... it could fit nicely ;) And still it won't be as social as Friendscene... so don't worry D ;)
That structure plan looks good bio, though I do agree with ELF's point.
Thanks for the feedback guys, you're helping me shape GfxDiary's future 8)
Ok i considered what you're saying. I guess the DropZone content that dont fit anywhere can still go in SiteZone > General?
So you still have your beloved off topic mumbo jumbo.
What else do you think?
Shall we make this final?
Any other consideration in mind?
I don't think the dropzone forum should be the general forum
It should be something like "Loose Stuff" or something, besides that, the idea looks really good :D
Just throw it in under the dropzone and then it's just what we all have ALWAYS dreamed of :P Right guys? ;)
Alright i guess everyone got their wish come true. GfxDiary 2005 met this plan right down to the last word. Random topics should now be thrown in the "General Talk" forum
I guess we can now safely lock this topic and unsticky it forever!
