Topic moved here. Um no you're not seeing things :P
Im playing around with the CSS to try and get it all optimized. As always, this is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the site further and make it even more user friendly. Dont be too surprised if you start seeing colours around the site. Do you think its time to ditch our Trademark Grey/Silver theme? Express your opinions here so we know how to change the colour theme! You may also suggest possible colour alternatives ;)
First time i saw the different colour links here i was like
But we need to make it easier to recognise links from text, so its actually needed around here. This is not a final, i'll get a good night sleep and look at it 2moro and see if it needs to be changed or not!
I really dont know what to go for, i still see GfxDiary in the same level as Biomutation (a place to express myself) so i tend to use colours im comfortable with (grey/silver). I betta put on my business glasses
I'd like to think you could get at least one solid theme thoroughly completed. At the moment it looks flat, monotoned and 'grey', let alone coming close to silver. I don't mean you should coat everything in shiny chrome but I've seen Windows 95 skins with my ZeSt to them. :P
You could probably use almost any colour along side neutral grey and it would look decent as long as you made it consistent. The added blue alone looks incoherent and out of place unless you planned on making further alterations to colour other than text. (hopefully all will come togeather in time) 8)
ps. Whilst I'm in a b**chy mood; if your going to have cheap 'Ask Jeeves' adds wasting space why not go host on Geocities ?
Actually i like grey more then blue. But you shoudl keep practising in choosing the best way to make it look like "so born", i mean keep choosing the right colours. But also i want to mention that Silver Grey theme for gfxdiary looks too plain. So it really needs much upgrades, but without loosing efficency of the whole site. You know when i look on gfxdiary theme i say like " hmm simple, clear, but not spicy".
Yeah, i agree with the comments made here. I thought hard about the site the moment it started to look presentable. Only problem is that the raw amounts of content/data each page has to offer forced me to lay back on the image used on the interface because it took so much processing time. The only reason im playing around with the design is because im trying to shake off that "nuke" look to separate the site from the tonns of rubbish nuke engine powered sites out there. This would also give us something unique to play with.
So far i feel that Thomas has done a better job than me at this site, with his help we have all the functionality a site like GfxDiary would need. However, the design side is less than perfect!
p.s about the adverts, its out of our hands, they're random but hey, at least its kinda relevant. would you like some ugly looking surveys instead? The ads are needed to try and fund our own dedicated server. A site like DeviantArt has 4 dedicated pc powering it, at the growth rate we're experiencing at the moment we'll be needing at least one pc soon or its bye bye!

I think we should stick with the grey/silver theme, i like it the way it is. Unless there's a better theme out there...
Actually i dont like the colour that you playign with atm, i try to find some that will fit better.
But i agree with Bio about the needed changes in theme.
