Maybe do somethign better?

Who did that banner? Peeps redo it, cause it looks awful.
Want to know other peeps opinions.

This is not even considered as a banner. It's an empty space i used to fill in where i will put banners. The real GfxDiary banner is still in the wroks - you already know what to expect. Look at the side banner ;)

well, its kinda easy to guess that I didn't do it. just look at it. I am thinking bio or thomas, out programmers

Can't say I'm bothered, its only temporary.

-looks on side banner- I guess we will be expecting another banner using gradient and embos ?:D Also some light "effects" with letters :D

Nox nice ammount of points 69 :D

Bio hates me  he steals my points when I am not online

Ahahaha nobody plays with the points, the more you participate the more you gain (this doesnt neccessarily mean forum posting). Red, design is a matter of preference, whether its complex or simplicity - its all upto the designer. You cant deny that side banner doesnt meet the objective 8)

Am I the only one that thinks that the GD design looks a lot like Deviantart's DA?

Shh don't mention that infront of Bio; well yea to be honest that was actually the first thing I thought when I saw the new design of GFX Diary... either way I still like it.

If you thought this was similar you should have seen some of the old logo concepts when the GD letters were joined together

Either way, i contacted the admins of Deviant Art and got them to approve the logo before the site was launched to squash any future trouble. To be honest, our GD logo works better since the meaning and letters are clearer! Where as dA hmmm look again!

heres a side note: The DeviantArt logo was a spin of from the DeskMod logo, those two sites had firece rivalery back in the day, and under the hood, i wouldnt be surprised if they still do ;)

Anyway, this topic is kinda pointless since the banner i used is only temporary. I've found the one i designed for the site and its been replaced!

www.ituned.com is promoting us for free with this banner :)

nice promotion :S

Well now it looks better, but same as i expected :) also "GfxForum" and other letters are hard to see on it, well maybe i have to dark monitor seten up, but it seems so, then it crosses 7 goldne rules and 10 big mistakes of design.

I've just recently tried to get my monitor calibrated once again; so you'd be right in thinking its hard to see. All I can read are the words 'GFX Diary'.

In terms of the banners in general I think they look fine in just black and white without the predictable soft washed out gradients. If they were to be B&W they'd have the best impact.

*Goes to change avatar :P *

Its a banner, we need the title to come accross as forcefully as possible. Then after looking at the title the user can enjoy all the secret/hidden/faded words on the banner. Because they just tell the user more about that name on the banner. Get my drift? Your golden rules of design dont mean ANYTHING in the new world of "Online Marketing". If you dont belive me go ahead and try!

Well it is hard to do a banner for GfxDiary i think, overdesigned banners never attract people, but also banner should be clear, not black(mine opinion).

Define clear? Black background on white title, thats as clear as it gets. If you dont like black then thats your own perfonal preference. Its a good thing the new Windows (code name LongHorn) is heading towards my own territory, GREY! 8)

Btw you heard about the show off of Longhorn in USA? Whne Bill gates been showing it's functions and it is just lagged and stoped :D BTW mine friend alreayd using it.

Yeah huge lag, but thats because the technology they're using hasnt been fully implemented. While im working on the new "colourful" theme for GfxDiary i may turn this official theme into more Win2005 style, just add darker gradients :D

Hehe. Then you get tons of complaints about stealing idea, or you can sue M$ :D
