anyway, make it load faster, this is the slowest loading forums ever for hitting the back button. Maybe you did it on purpose or you got bad servers =)
V4? that was a mistake from thomas, this is V2 ;)
V3 we have made a few plans but nothing concrete. V4 doesnt exist as far as we're concerned at this stage.
Damn you guys are quick, what is v2 not good enough? :p
We had a few server problems today, but typically the site is very light, so i dont see why it shouldnt load fast. Im working on an even lighter layout based purly on CSS. Hopefully for v3 we can make the site even lighter and easier on the browser! or maybe we'll call it V2.5 ;) like i said, we havnt thought that far ahead yet!
To be very honest with you guys, this is based on the GfxUnit v1.1 (a heavily modified nuke engine)!
I seen on homepage v4, musta been a typo, didnt see it there a second ago.
it takes about 5 seconds to navigate from 1 page to another. Maybe theres to much java script, most phpBB boards are like instant. Maybe its the side menu's. Maybe theres to much processing?
Oh since you put it like that, then i'll add that in the list of TODO. I'll definatly look into that tonight and see where the problem lies. Might have to get rid of a few javascripts and oter unneccessary code!
Just went leapfrogging through the site and things loaded fine (as long as you have cache enabled); which I assume everyone does. I agree the first initial load time is slightly lengthy though...
- the right-clicky menu seems surplus.
euh, don't start the Lite version, the current one looks some what boring to say the least. Where's all the none coded aspects ?
Thanks for the feedback Trico. Right mouse click has been disabled for now. This feature will be enabled when we can add the option for users to enable it from the Profile page. that way the users who dont like it dont have to suffer. And the users who do like it then suffer now but when it's implemented in your Profile page you can enable it and have as much fun as you want without anyone noticing!
I think i know what the problem is, it loads everything then display's everything at once. Therefore it seems longer because i usually scroll down while the page is still loading to find where the last post is i read. Instead i have to wait for the whole page to load be displayed then scroll down.
Oh that explains it. Basically GfxDiary gets compressed then thrown at your direction when it finishes. That way it saves us HUGE bandwidth costs and you get to have a fully loaded page with all links and images working.
Update: removed a lot of code that was related to admin/future site features. This should speed up the site loading and remove some javascript issues.
Come on you guys have more than enough goodies in this current version - you dont need to rush the next installment. Its even worse in terms of design at the moment, and its lighter and easier to get into from a beginner point of view. How many of you were lost when you first looked at this layout?
