In light of recent issues we had regarding the signature system, there seem to be a lot of new members giving us problems and reluctant to follow the signature rules. Heres the solution. IMG tag will be dissabled for all normal members' signatures. Its simple, normal members will not be able to display images in their signature until they reach ELITE status. By that time, they will have understood the way GfxDiary operates, and understand the rules fully. Also its just one of the things you get back for participating.
What do you guys think? Vote and come forward with any comments and suggestions.

Im guessing ya Thomas suggested is better. I dont think ti would take people 500 points to know what size to put a sig lol. Just my opinion.
Its not neccessarily to know the site's signature rules, but also one of the factors that would make people aim to reach the Elite level. I get asked "what do you get for the points you earn on GfxDiary" question a lot. Well, the answer is more power, extra features not normally available to normal users. Images in sigs will be another one in the list (which also applies to us admins/moderators too). So we need to aim to reach the Elite status!
Other things Elite members get are:
- Elite user online icon!
- Hidden site settings
- 1MB extra gallery space
- Broadcast PM usage without points being taken away
- GfxDiary future development & testing - be informed and get the first previews!
If theres any other suggestion or inclusions you like to see this is the time to say them ;)
I'm all for the idea of getting people in the community more motivated, but you might want to consider the way in which points are issued. For example, would there a way to difernciate between useful/helpful stuff against spam instant message style threads.
I'm not too bothered about sigs either, ... but I'm sure you creative minded people can come up with a method that only allows a certain size to be uploaded/displayed; I've seen it done before.
Some stuff to think about either way...
With the old GfxDiary we had the signature limitor system so that no more than one image is displayed and it had to be within a certain size. We forgot all about it in the site rewrite! :embarrased:
Regarding spam - well, as you may have seen, we dont really tolidate spam posts, rather quick to react at time too. Having the user levels in there will encourage spaming as some members will want to reach Elite ASAP! But we have ways of counter-attacking, just RESET their points! Thats a powerful enough deterrent!
lever 1? AARG i cant have a sig then, im not one of those spam poster, i dont have 30 post in a week or something
b00m has a point there ... spam or over-posting will be rewarded :/
there could better be a point system where successfull replies on questions are being rewarded by the admins, or the finding of bugs that werent found be4. this way people have to post non-spam in order to advance to a higher level.

If you read my post above i already talked about this issue! This is not a big deal, dont go blow it out of context. Its simple, more participation = more rewards. Images in signatures will just have to be made available for Elite members only.
Heres a reminder, you dont just get points for posting on the forum, but on the entire site. That includes voting, comments, gallery, tutorials and everything else the site has to offer :idea:

We were originally going to base the points system on members' posts. but we didnt want to limit the points system to just the forum. We wanted site-wide participation on GfxDiary. Also if we base it on posts that woudnt be fair cos i'll be miles ahead of everyone else.
The points system was a fresh new concept to the site and so we wanted everyone to start fresh on equal terms. That way the game is fair, before thomas started cheating :P shame on YOU!

i should definetly test the next version, i always find bugs, found bug on last version, found bug on this version, still finding things to complain about on this version. There wasnt no warning that if you public message you loose 10 points, i lost 20 points doing that, give them back?
