Just getting into photography...

I thought I'd be brave and ask people what they think about my photos? I'd really like to know what people think about them - good and bad points.

But be nice.

Please... :P

I like them :), the one with the grass is a bit unsharp, maybe you should take the picture from a bigger distance, and then use zoom.

BTW whats that awesome building on the background of your last picture ??

They're good, some of them have potential. However, i suggest you take your photos to Photoshop (or whatever app u use) and touch them up. You can then enhance them even more, if they need more sharpness/blur, colour balance etc..

I hope nexflo can give you some tips cos he's good in this field!

Cheers for the comments you two :D.

I was trying to get a shot with a small aperture value in the grass one which I managed to do, though I might have done with better composition looking back on it now... the Background is a little too distracting... Never mind... I might try a shot like that again sometime when I start using my SLR camera (was using a AF compact for that shot - which made it almost impossible to convince it to make a shot like that!).

The building in the background in the last picture is the Glasgow University library. I took the shot from the main building in the campus looking towards the library. It really is an awesome building and the main complex is really cool too... If you are interested you can find some more pictures of the university on their official site here: http://www.gla.ac.uk/ you can access the picture galleries via the image on the bottom right of the main page.

I definitely know where you are coming from BioALIEN... Some of the shots have been touched up a bit, but I feel that these days there is too much media control over what we see... I'm trying to train myself to get things right first time - with filters or different exposures if necessary to get the shots I want instead of editing them afterwards.

actually your pictures do have potential....did u take photography classes? coz it does seem u know your share about how to layout a photo

pic1: looks good...but its tilted....either make it straight..or mega tilted
just a bit tilted looks awfully wrong... (and maybe that guy should smile ;))

pic2: just awesome u got the diagonal there...(a good picture should have a diagonal like running from top left to bottom right)....its very good...like it. u could even try a similat pic...with damn long shutter time and small aperture..u know get that car drive by effect ;)
its cheesy but looks kick ass.

pic3: looks a bit overexposed on the top...otherwise interesting angle...:)

pic4: if your camera is shit with macro shoots dont even try ;)

pic5: interesting :)
might even try making it sepia like..old orangy!

pic6:interesting..color wise..like it

bio said u should take em into PS..I figure as your pics already have white borders around em u did already...try to experiment a tad more..and maybe make the borders a bit bigger as well..bottom border should always be bigger then top one..

yeah im a critic so what? ;)

take care

Well they arent bad at all.

Thanks nexflo, I've never taken classes actually - only started really getting into photography about 3 or so months ago... Dead chuffed you think they have so much potential :D.

pic1: Yeah, noticed that too... I have a feeling that I just hadn't setup the tripod right then (had just bought it that day). And there is nothing wrong with my smile... ;).

pic2: Yeah, I was really pleased how that photo turned out too. I really want to try to make the car drive by effect at some point, but I was only using a compact camera which I couldn't adjust the shutter speed with...

pic3: I noticed that shot as I was walking between lectures at uni once, it was ashame about the over exposure on the top - guess I should have taken the light reading from the top of the building and then re-composed the shot... Oh well... Still one of my faves...

pic4: Yeah, I've tried that shot once.... Never again... :P.

pic5: Think I might just do that...

pic6: Yeah, another one of my faves... Pity it looks really grainy (was using a lower quality cam for that one).

I awlays appreciate constructive critisism because that is the type you learn the most from, so thanks for all of that! :D. Also, thanks RedDragon, glad you like the shots :D.
