Using the Material Editor you can add a pic to the sene's background. I cant remember any of the shortcuts now. 3dmax changed soo much since the last time i used it - i feel scared opening it. It might attack me with it's power :)

you can use shadows by adding a spotlight or something like that and then click on "add shadow". You should know, if you can moddel a car like that! (did you really make it by yourself ?)
