This is a tutorial I made about a year and a half ago when I was new to photoshop so that's why some of the pics are cut badly and that's why some things are a bit obvious :).
Twirled Sphere
A tutorial by godlesswanderer
First you make a new document, make sure it’s quite big. And make the background transparent. I picked 1024 x 768 px.
You should have something like this:
Then fill the layer with any colour (I picked #D9D9D9). Then create a new layer by pressing ctrl and N. Now select this layer by clicking on it in the layers tab.
Go Filter>>>Render>>>3D Transform then create a 3D sphere. Select the trackball and twist it right round so it you cannot see the transparent background. Then move it to any of the four corners with the pan camera tool. Click on options and set the resolution and anti-aliasing to high so you don’t get any jaggy lines.
You should have this:
Then create two copies of the second layer.
Then select layer 2 and go Filter>>>Distort>>>Twirl and set it to 999. Then select Layer 2 copy and do the same but set it to -999.
Now you should have this:
There you go, a Twirled Sphere, Enjoy!
cool effect, i think with a bit more work you coulda come up with a "golf ball" tut ;)
Our first gfx tutorial - thank goes out to godlesswanderer!
