Nowadays, there is no REAL designer  , if not, only a few who remain the honor of a real artist.
Why? Simple, WAREZ.
I bet, almost 90% of who enter this board, who he thinks, act, talk and s***in' all over like a DESIGNER, was all fakers  , making shame for the sake of art and the design.
Look, i bet even BioAlien uses warez, look at his bio, his just 20, still livin' with his parent, can't make enough money, but look at his tools.
3ds max?Poser?Bryce?Photoshop?Illustrator?Corel Suite? Where the heck he got all those money? All this cost grants!!!(to buy the original software), unless, the only option is gettin' warez, the heaviest sin a (fake) designer had to carry all over his life, while became posers, actin cool all over the net. :x
I bet this is devastating.
I want anyone who just readin this must feel something diffrent, something strange, its okay, ban me if u must  . Coz i dont really care, i use to be like all of you, yeah i know, designin' stuffs is cool, i use to be a great designer (true), with warez as my tools, but lately, i feel theres nothing to be proud out of me, and then i feel this feeling of worthlessness. It just wasting my time. Trust me, if you want to be and want to be called as a designer, be REAL!
Thanks 'evilwheevil' for that post. Very interesting topic actually, and NO we dont delete or ban people with a finger click - we want to provide the best environment for us and the visitors where we can all speak our minds. This topic is valid so let me break down and answer some of your comments above.
First: DESIGN IS BASED ON TALENT NOT THE TOOLS YOU USE! Designing is the art of tapping into your creative side, and using the tools you're most comfortable with to realise that creativity. You can have all the graphics software out there but if you dont have a creative talent you'll never get anywhere. Whats the use in having every software out there if you cant operate it? I've seen some amazing art pieces using MS PAINT (pixel art)
Second: AGE HAS NO RELATION TO YOUR CREATIVE ABILITY! In fact, lots of people younger than me are even more creativly gifted than i am. If you cared to read my bio properly in the about section of my site Biomutation, it CLEARLY outlined the struggle i had to go through in order to get where i am now. In the end, i was not able to afford the OVER EXPENSIVE software that's being thrown at me with new versions every year and asking for money to upgrade my existing copy. So i resorted to my friends, they already had the purchased copy of all major graphics software that i needed. There is nothing wrong with a friend helping you with software, i bet you probably do that too. Granted its probably illegal to share software, but i'm not gonna miss out on what i love and enjoy doing most because i simply cant afford it. I consider this as a chance to get to know the software, improve myself then when i'm in a position where i can afford it i'll purchase it. Oh, and i dont live with my parents any more - i live at university (less free time, more finances :x)
Third: I never stated if my tools were FULL apps or demos. So, based on your comments above, can you still be considered a "REAL DESIGNER" if you dont buy the software and use the demo (and keep reinstalling the same demo when it expires) their official website gives you? Hmm, interesting i dont think you even thought about that one
Lastly: Quote:
Used to be a "great designer"? What happened now that you bought "real" software? It's sounding like you bought expensive software but didnt get the most out of it :?:
Thanx for this topic, it brought up some very interesting point. The least you could have done was leave your reference (site url or gallery) so we can ll take a look and learn from you
lol, what warez have do to with anything? I do not understand your point.
Do you think that buying software for $2000+ makes you better at design? are you dumb? Do you know that in countries like Russia, people get like $150 dollars/month and a real copy of 3dsmax cost like $3500? Think about it.
"Nowadays, there is no REAL designer , if not, only a few who remain the honor of a real artist."
- i hate art, I dont think of design as art so stfu.
"Why? Simple, WAREZ."
-lol, because of warez, some of the best 'designers' got into design.
"i use to be a great designer (true), "
-please show some of your work to us...
"Trust me, if you want to be and want to be called as a designer, be REAL! " - wtf? who the fuck cares? I don't want to be called a designer, I am in this just for the money.[people dont hate me:)]
Did your mama tell you that warez are bad?[just for the record, I am not saying that warez are good, DO NOT report me to FBI]
so what im not a real artist cause i stold these pencils and paper? LOL (no i didnt really steal these papers or pencils)
Well i think evilwheevil is lost in his thoughts.
Well i payed for SWISH 2.0 account! LOl. And this changes nothing. Actually i like collecting those boxes(i finally started collecting licensed stuff).
If you have talent but dont have money, what do you do then? forget about designing? lol. evilwheevili think you saying real shit and kinda stupid. You tell me you use WAREZ?
About age of designing. LOL. My girlfriend started car designing at the age of 17. NOw she earns 3000+ $ a mounth. It all depends on the man. If you really stubborn and know the target you are reaching you can earn awsome money at the age of 16!
I think you are disappointed guy. who bought all this stuff and has no talent. And is disappointed of lost money and in the whole world. It makes you feel evil when one guy who didnt buy it makes BIG mo ney adn you live from project to project, asking for 100 $.

Evilwheevil: We havn't heared from you in a while (and i doubt we'll ever hear from you again ) but do you have anything to say to whats being said here? Care to respond to the allegations and show us a sample or reference of your work?
No? didnt think so! 8)
Just to protect my skinny "behind":
My dad gota company, where they produce different kinds of design, for press, magasines, web sites, and so on...
I work there occasoionally, and through that, qualifies me as an employee.. So I can use their licenses of 3ds max, Photoshop, Flash, etc.
Also, I don't have a problem with warez.. Y? Because without warez, people wouldn't be able to try out software, and get a prefference... Actually, Discreet, Adobe, Macromedia, etc. get most customers from the fact that their software is the easiest to find on warez sites, so people use their software, begins to like it, and then buys it...
BTW, don't believe me on the thing with my dads company, go visit www.datagraf.dk
I'm a good boy...
ooh im a good boy too, school has the licences 8)
and i need to learn photoshop for school, cant afford $2000, im a bloody student.
I mostly have licences for my software as a result of heavy ass working trough holidays, taking every opportunity to make cash nots pending a $. I dont have licences for all of my software currently but when I get money I will buy licences. I had problems once because of illegal software I had. I would buy licences if I only could but be realistic: having 5712,77 $ software licence wont make me a better artist as I currently am. It wil make me feal better cause the programmers who created got the money they deserve. Only thing that bothers me is new versions of software. The best example is photoshop CS. Lets be realistic. How much does it really have to offer accordingly to Photoshop 7? Ok, reasignable hotkeys (wich helps me a it because it doesnt recognise my keyboard and cant even use the pre-designated one), image browser, few new filters and tricks. I belive its not enough even for an upgrade. Upgrade licence costs too and after upgrading I feel I have been robbed. Its too little for too much cash. Next time I give a big sum for licence I will think soberly what the hell am I buying. Altough I can manage to get my hands ont he money for the licences but I would also like like to go to an art/design collegue abroad (slovenian schools suck along with the boarding system), to get my self an apartement, to get my gf a nice preesent for the forthcoming anniversity. What the hell can I do with this software if I cant affore to buy anything else (like food a computer to run it, pay the rent,..)
I agree with you there, there should be a reasonable and sensible price for software, or at least take into consideration where the user stands. For students the software should be almost next to nothing since they are already paying heavy fines to keep their brains in education. But then again, it could be said that students are "one of their targetted audience" :?
